Will this be *the* place

So I think I may possibly hold the record for the most blog attempts by one person. I started blogging back in 2006 on Yahoo 360; we'd relocated to Sparks, Nevada from Seattle (WTF were we thinking?!?!) and I was lonely (aaawww). 360 was awesome; I met a lot of great people there and actually still have an active page, but with all the glitches, quirks and what have you, it's pretty much a ghost town these days.

Most people migrated over to Multiply, which I didn't like at all. I tried Facebook, Xanga, and LiveJournal, and now I'll try this one as well. Usually what happens is someone I know starts a blog somewhere, I check it out, and think "this could be it!" None of the sites I mentioned have really clicked for me; Facebook comes close but it doesn't have a blog feature and I miss that. Well, I guess I should say that if it does have a blog feature, it's buried deep within the profile and I'm just too lazy to find it!

So I'll try this site for awhile and see how it goes. Maybe this and Facebook too...we'll see.

So, a little about me (not that anyone's reading this or anything)...I live in the beautiful Puget Sound area of Washington State. For the uninitiated, you know that state in the NW corner of the US map? The one that is always blue during election results on news shows and is right below Canada eh? That's where I am. I live on the Kitsap Peninsula, which is a ferry ride due west from downtown Seattle or a 1.5 hour "drive around" as we call it. Traffic's much much better now that the new Narrows bridge opened! I didn't always live in Kitsap County; I was born in Seattle and grew up there; we moved to Vashon Island (google it) when I was in jr high and graduated from there in the late 80's...and now you know how old I am.

I moved off the rock after high school and spent the next 5 years doing nothing, pretty much. Went to WSU for a year; got bored, moved back home, and got an office job. Tried to go back to school a couple of times, but as much as I love learning, classroom settings are just not my thing. I'm taking an online class right now, as a matter of fact, and too bad the internet wasn't around back in the day...I'd probably have a few degrees by now....oh wait...that's right, I like learning but ultimately I'm pretty lazy. I love researching, but following a lesson plan with quizzes and tests? BORING.

Let's see, what next? Oh yeah, met a guy, moved in, got married. It's been 12 years now. (YIKES!) Please don't ask me what I think of marriage at the moment. I'm in a funk, he's in a funk, we're funky. Enough said.

We have two beautiful daughters (3 and 10 months) that are my reason for living and breathing and doing ChaCha (which I'll get into next time). We have a large extended family; most are here in the Seattle area with a few exceptions (Portland, OR, and Spokane). We recently moved back to Kitsap after a 2 year exile in Northern Nevada where the husband had taken a job. It was a good job, but this past May the company decided to close the branch and laid off everyone (bastards!) Luckily for us, we had rented out our house, so it was an easy decision to move home.

And so here we are! Safe and sound and back where we belong amongst the green and lovely sea air. If you've ever been to Reno/Sparks, you know that it is a dry, dusty, brown and smelly valley where it NEVER EVER RAINS. I about went out of my mind.

Well, that's all for now; until next time!
